State Recipes from the Living Well Book
NevadaPine Nut SaladNevada has many thousands of native Pinion Nut trees that bear an abundant crop of sweet pine nuts. Many years ago, numerous tribes of Washoes, Paiutes and Shoshones roamed all over Nevada in search of food. One food they harvested was pine nuts which they considered as a life-sustaining gift from the Gods. Today pine nuts are used in a variety of dishes from salads to desserts. Toasting pine nuts brings out their sweet flavor. |
