Wisconsin Cheese Garden Lasagna

NEAFCS Greenwood Fellowship
Background
The NEAFCS Greenwood Fellowship is granted to an Extension Educator in Family and Consumer Sciences for graduate studies. This award is sponsored by NEAFCS to give members an opportunity to pursue professional improvement through graduate study in the area of their own choosing.
Award
One NEAFCS Greenwood Fellowship of $500 will be given.
Eligibility
- Only one fellowship will be awarded to an individual.
- Study must be started within 12 months after the award is granted and consist of a period not less than nine months.
- Any Extension Educator in Family and Consumer Sciences who has a minimum of five years membership in NEAFCS may apply.
- The recipient should attend the annual session to receive the fellowship.
- If a thesis is written, upon completion, the recipient will send one copy of the thesis to the Extension Service USDA library. One copy of the abstract will be sent to the Journal of Extension and The Reporter. A letter is to be forwarded along with a synopsis of work accomplishment to the Vice President for Awards and Recognition.
- If graduate courses, certification programs or similar educational endeavors are pursued, a summary of accomplishments and evidence of course completion should be submitted to the Vice President for Awards and Recognition following completion of the program.
Application
- Complete On-line Awards Application and submit one printed copy.
- Study plan:
- State in detail the purpose of the graduate study plan to be carried out, where study will take place, and subject matter chosen and why. Include the course outline, if possible.
- Indicate acceptance. Attach a transcript of all academic credits and grades, both graduate and under graduate.
- Give details for your desire to carry out this study plan and how it will impact your work with Extension.
- If applicable, with this award, will full time study be possible? Has leave been granted? When is it expected that degree requirements will be completed?
- Evidence of program accomplishments
- Evidence that the Extension Family and Consumer Sciences program is serving the needs and interests of the families with whom applicant works
- Evidence that lay leadership is being effectively used
- Evidence of cooperation with other Extension workers as well as other organizations and agencies serving the people
- Describe outstanding leadership achievement in the initiation of a plan, organization, collaboration and the results generated by your plan
- Participation in professional and community activities
- Include professional and community organizations in which leadership positions have been held
- Indicate involvement as an individual (apart from Extension work) in family and community service
- Letter of support from appropriate state staff/administrator-briefly comment on these characteristics for the applicant:
- Initiative
- Ability to plan
- Ability as an educator
- General good judgment
- Persistence in carrying plans to completion
- Ability to work with people
- Ability as leader of people
- Ability to speak and write effectively
Judging Criteria 100 Total Points
- Plan for study - 30 points
Purpose is clearly stated. Study plan seems practical and will be a contribution to Extension
- Evidence of program accomplishments
- Shows evidence that the Family and Consumer Sciences program is meeting the needs and interests of the families with whom the applicant works - 25 points
- Shows evidence of initiative and of planning ability - 20 points
- Shows evidence that lay leadership is being effectively used - 15 points
- Participation in professional and community activities; involvement and leadership abilities are evident - 10 points
Procedure
- Submit one (1) copy of the application package, letter of support, and support materials for the Greenwood Fellowship Award as listed above to the appropriate affiliate chair by the affiliate due date.
- Affiliate chair will mail the winning application(s) postmarked no later than April 1 to Carol Chandler.
