JOE Board Representative Report

Luann Boyer (CO), NEAFCS JOE Representative

As Extension professionals start a new year of programming, the Journal of Extension is likewise starting the year with a new look.   The home page has been re-designed to enable users to more easily access Journal articles and other resources.   At our fall board meeting we reviewed the website and found it had been a number of years since the web page had been updated.   We hope all Extension professionals will like the new format.

We have also strengthened the connection between Journal of Extension and the National Job Bank.   Now, when you open the National Job Bank page, a sidebar shows information about the current Journal issue.   Most of us didn't know both of these products are provided by Extension Journal, Inc., the legal entity which produces Journal of Extension.  As the representative from NEAFCS, I sit on the board for Extension Journal, Inc.

If you attended the JOE concurrent session at NEAFCS in Columbus last fall, a reminder of the  PowerPoint being available to use in your state or region to increase awareness of  the Journal and National Job Bank.  To show the latest information, we used  screen shots of the Journal and Job Bank since we did not have live internet.   If you don't have live internet, you can insert current screen shots before using; or I can do it before emailing if you're going to be using it shortly.

Also, a reminder of the continuing need for reviewers for journal submissions, especially those who have broad Family and Consumer Sciences expertise.   On the Extension Journal, Inc. home page (www.joe.org), go to the Guidelines tab across the top and select Reviewers.  There is a wealth of information on the page about reviewing.  Go to FAQ and click on #10 for details about  becoming a reviewer.

As your representative, I want all members to always feel free to call me with any questions or concerns (luann.boyer@colostate.edu).
