Highlights of the Developmental Disabilities Training Series
Description: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than six million individuals in the United States have developmental disabilities. About one in six children between the ages of 3 and 17 in the U.S. has one or more developmental disabilities or developmental delays. To better develop and implement programming that meet the needs of  people living with disabilities, it is important for Extension professionals to gain an understanding of developmental disabilities, their relationship to learning and behavior, and how to make accommodations and modifications to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Join Michelle Brill and Jeannette Rea Keywood of Rutgers Cooperative Extension as they introduce you to the five course modules of their Developmental Disabilities Training Series, available in person or online: Overview of Disabilities; Disabilities and Learning; Understanding and Managing Behavior; Visual Supports; and Understanding Disabilities Laws and Making Program Adaptations.
