Family and Community Health Sciences Educator - Tenure Track Faculty Position

NATURE AND PURPOSE: 

The successful candidate will provide leadership and support to conduct a comprehensive Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) Extension program for Cape May County residents . As a faculty member of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, an FCHS Educator provides leadership for planning, promotion, implementation and evaluation of an applied, evidence ­ based, multi-method program with measurable impacts on the clientele and profession. Their outreach will assist professionals and consumers to make informed choices in the areas of food, nutrition, health and wellness and related current health issues. Their outreach will address the needs of a diverse countywide audience that spans economic levels, lifespan and culture within Cape May County. Attainment of external resources to support the program through grants, contracts and alternative funding streams will be expected as will collaboration with county agencies and organizations for implementation of educational programming. The successful candidate will be responsible for forming an Advisory Board that is representative of the county population to support programmatic efforts. They will be responsible for establishing a working relationship with Extension counterparts in and out of the county and will be expected to participate in appropriate departmental, Rutgers Cooperative Extension, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Rutgers, The State University and Cape May County administrative functions . The candidate will be expected to establish an outstanding program, the merits of which will result in regional and/or national recognition. 

ACADEMIC RANK: County Agent III (Equivalent to Assistant Professor), Tenure Track, 12 months, 100% Extension appointment. 

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's and Master's degrees required from accredited institutions in nutrition, family and consumer sciences, public health or related field. Three years minimum post-degree professional experience required for appointment to the rank of County Agent III (equivalent to Assistant Professor). Research experience in experimental design, data collection, evaluation and analysis preferred. Effective public speaking and presentation skills for program delivery and communication to clientele are required. Supervisory or managerial experience as it relates to staff and volunteer management is preferred. The successful candidate must have the ability to work cooperatively and communicate with staff and clientele. Computer proficiency is required. A valid driver's license or ability to acquire said license is a necessity for the performance of this position. Willingness and dedication to commit to the long hours associated with the position are expected.
