Living Well Grants-More Than A Cookbook

Gail Brand (NE), Central Region Director

Still need a short summaries of how you are using the cookbook from many of you.  All we need is a short paragraph explaining how your event went. Please send to [email protected].  Here are two more stories of how the cookbooks were used:

Be Healthy Now, Findlay, OH

  • We have a weight loss program that involves team competition and a variety of activities. Books were given through this program as awards and door prizes for our weight loss competition and at our Health Day at the county fair.  Health Day included various health screenings and a one mile walk at the county fair.
  • We offered a Dining with Diabetes program which has 4 educational sessions.  Books were given as door prizes at the sessions.
  • We also gave a few books at some events for our Family Nutrition Program (SNAP-ED)
Living Well Club, New Castle, Kentucky
  • I am currently using the books with a "Living Well Club".  It is a special interest Homemeaker club and we are using each chapter as a topic of discussion.
  • We have 25 enrolled.  We will be meeting several times a week until the end of May.
  • We have just finished the Financial Education section and are moving on to "Care of Textiles".
